Making the Blogging Community A Better Place

15th July 2010

I just finished setting up my Community Page here in Private Corner. I have often thought of ways before to make my readers interact more, not just with me or my blog, but with other readers as well. I know, I know, comments or commenting is still the best source of interaction for a blog. But what if someone simply wanted to share an article, without going through the comments corner or the Contact Page?

This is where I thought of setting up a page where somebody could submit a link to an article they wanted to share, not just with me, but with others reading this blog as well. I’m really not sure if people would actually submit any, but what the hell. I just set it up for the sake of interaction, trying to make blogging life and the blogging world a bit better.

Wouldn’t be nice to see people interacting with you, sharing this post or that article, wanting to you to read it? In a blogging world where it seems that the main objective is making money online, driving traffic to your blog, and beating everyone on Google’s Search Engine, would this be simply wishful thinking? I guess not and if ever there’s a grain of truth to it, I refuse to believe it.

I still believe anyone could be a better blogger, regardless of his or her blog’s popularity. All someone needs to do is to be true and honest on whatever it is that he or she’s writing, even if that article ends up being read only by him or him alone.

Julius, this is not a bad idea at all, I wanted to implement it in the FB blog since a few months back but thought it will give some extra load to our publishing activities!

I hope it will work for you as soon as your blog reader notice it!

I assume you are using some kind of moderation for the community news!

Best of luck!

Thanks, Hesham! I hope so too that it’ll work since I like to read and learn from other blogs. The theme I’m using has a built-in template (or plugin) for the community news feed and submission. It’s very useful since I don’t know that much about coding. I believe the template’s using Aksimet for spam moderation and I still have to approve the articles before being published.

Thanks for dropping by here, I really appreciate it. More power to FB! :)

Julius, have you gone crazy? You’ve just opened up the floodgates to let all the spammers pour in! :)

Kidding, sort of… I think it’s a lovely idea, and I hope it’s only the good kind-hearted souls who believe in sharing for sharing’s sake, who take you up on it.

Thanks for dropping by Donna, I really appreciate it. Maybe I just did gave those spammers out there a window of opportunity. But as you might already know, spammers are, well, spammers. :) Let them pour all they want, I still have some mode of moderation on the page, and besides, you won’t find gold without sifting the river sand, wouldn’t you?

Thanks again for dropping by. :)
